Privacy Policy

How FeriBazaar collects, uses, and protects information from vendors and customers.

FeriBazaar ("we", "us", "our") operates the FeriBazaar mobile app and website (the "Service"), a hyperlocal marketplace connecting street vendors with nearby customers across India. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name and mobile number, verified via a one-time password (OTP). We do not require an email address or password.

Location data. The Service is built around location.

  • Vendors who start a "live route" share their real-time GPS location so nearby customers can be notified and see estimated arrival times. Vendors also set a permanent base location for their profile.
  • Customers share their location (or a saved address) so the app can show nearby vendors and send arrival alerts for a chosen radius (e.g. 100m–500m).

Vendor business information. Business/stall name, category of goods sold, description, photos, operating hours, city and state, and — for verification — an ID document type and number (Aadhaar, PAN, or Voter ID) and, optionally, a UPI ID for customers to pay the vendor directly.

Content you provide. Product listings, reviews and ratings you leave for vendors, messages sent through in-app chat, and any photos you upload.

Usage & device data. Basic technical data such as device type, app version, push-notification tokens (to deliver vendor-arrival alerts), and general usage logs for debugging and abuse prevention.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate the core Service — matching nearby vendors and customers, sending arrival alerts, and enabling reservations, chat, and reviews.
  • To verify vendor identity and reduce fraudulent or fake listings.
  • To improve the Service, including generating helpful, location-relevant content for category and city pages.
  • To communicate with you about your account, support requests, and important updates.
  • To maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the platform.

3. How Information Is Shared

We do not sell your personal information.

  • Between vendors and customers: a vendor's business profile, live location (while on an active route), ratings, and reviews are visible to nearby customers. Your phone number is never shown to the other party — in-app chat does not reveal it.
  • Service providers: we use third-party providers for essentials such as image hosting/storage, SMS/OTP delivery, maps, and AI-assisted content generation for category and city pages. These providers process data only as needed to provide their service to us.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or a valid legal process.

4. Cookies & Analytics

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies for basic functionality (such as remembering your language preference) and, where enabled, privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the Service is used and to improve it.

5. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain account and profile information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Live location data is retained only as long as needed to provide arrival alerts and is not used for long-term tracking after a route ends.

7. Your Rights & Choices

  • You can review and update your profile information from within the app.
  • You can turn off location sharing at any time, though this will limit or disable core features (live tracking, nearby alerts).
  • You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us (see Contact).

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years old, or who have the consent of a parent/guardian where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from young children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
